about
A lighthearted joy radiates from Bel Kil’s debut single, Escaping. It sounds like summer – if a song could sound like melting ice-creams, blue skies, and spontaneous road trips to the beach. Produced in her bedroom during the lockdowns, it offers a refreshing take on pop music. ‘Escaping is about embracing life,’ she says.
‘Escaping’ is rich in detail, with catchy whistles and percussive finger snaps that blend flawlessly with cinematic synths and earnest vocals. The track is the first taste from Bel's forthcoming EP ‘My Year’, arriving later this year. You will be hearing a lot more from Bel with an album already in the works.

B E L K I L – Escaping (Official Lyrics):
Sometime I wish that I was a bird in the sky, understated magpie
I could see from my tree just how crazy life can be, watch it float by
Those city lights would be like, the stars in the night there’s no worries from this height
I could fly just right by all the birds that bug me without underlying ties
But then I’d be escaping, all the silly things I’ve done
Instead of embracing, who I’ve become
You and me we could team, aviate like a dream, our jet plane is free
Never gonna be, royalty, no that’s not our kind of party, can’t sit still and look pretty
Those city lights would be like, the stars in the night there’s no worries from this height
I could fly just right by all the birds that bug me without underlying ties
But then I’d be escaping, all the silly things I’ve done
Instead of embracing, who I’ve become
But then I’d be escaping, all the shitty things I’ve done
Instead of embracing, who I’ve become
Ooooh, eeeeh, Oh
You and me we could team, aviate like a dream, our jet plane is free
Never gonna be, royalty, no that’s not our kind of party, can’t sit still and look pretty
Those city lights would be like, the stars in the night there’s no worries from this height
I could fly just right by all the birds that bug me without underlying ties
But then I’d be escaping, all the silly things I’ve done
Instead of embracing, who I’ve become
But then I’d be escaping, all the shitty things I’ve done
Instead of embracing, who I’ve become
Instead of embracing
The things I’ve done
Then I’d be escaping
All I’ve done
Sometimes I oh, eee eh
Who I’ve become
